For Proffieboard sabers

The full power of Proffieboard. No programming.

Proffieboard is the most capable board you can put in a saber, but getting the most out of it has meant editing code, running compilers and copying folders by hand. SaberBench turns all of that into menus, previews and buttons, so every owner gets everything the board can do.

US$10, one-time · Windows · Tested on Proffieboard V2

Why SaberBench

Built for owners, not programmers

Same board, same features, same results on the saber. The difference is how you get there.

The usual way Code, compilers and hope
> arduino-cli compile --fqbn proffieboard:stm32l4:… ProffieOS.ino

One stray comma and the build fails, or the saber won't start.

With SaberBench Menus, previews and one button
Update saber...Compiles, checks the board and flashes it for you.

Stray commas are fixed for you, and every change is backed up first.

How it works

Work on a copy, like a real workbench

You never need to know how ProffieOS works inside. You never edit the saber directly either: SaberBench gives you four places, each with one job, so experiments can't break what works.

The parts shelf

Inventory

Every config, sound font, track and blade style you own. Experiments never change it.

The bench top

Staging

The working copy of what will go on the saber. All editing happens here.

The test stand

Saber

Sends the finished setup to the SD card, flashes the firmware and shows if the saber is up to date.

The safe

Backups

Your original files, and a copy of everything that was ever replaced.

  1. Get the saber's files

Put the SD card in your PC. SaberBench keeps an untouched copy, fills Staging and adds everything to your Inventory.

  2. Edit in Staging

Pick a font, track and blade style per preset, drag to reorder, add or remove presets.

  3. Review & apply

See exactly what will change. A backup is saved first, and Undo last apply is one click away.

  4. Update saber

The SD card first, then the firmware over USB, with a prompt at each step.

  5. Told what happened

Every long job ends with a plain result, or the reason something went wrong.

Features

Everything that used to need code

Each part of Proffieboard that once meant a text editor or a command line now has a screen of its own.

01 · Inventory

Your whole saber collection in one place

Configs, sound fonts, tracks and blade styles in one searchable library, kept apart from what's on the saber. Never hunt for a file again.

  • Search, folders, tags and notes
  • Rename anything without breaking a thing: every config that uses it is updated
  • Install a config with its fonts and tracks in one click
  • Same volume on every track, evened out automatically

02 · Blade styles

Preview a blade style before you flash it

Every colour and effect recipe in your configs is collected into a library automatically. Play one to watch it ignite, retract, clash, blast and lock up, then pick it from a menu on any preset.

  • Swing slider and every effect at the press of a button
  • An honest, approximate preview that says what it can't show

03 · Review & apply

See every change before it's written

Review & apply lists exactly what will change in the config and on disk: new folders, renames, deletions. A backup of the old config is saved first, and Undo last apply puts it back.

  • Unused fonts and tracks are cleaned up for you
  • Stray commas are fixed before building, so a typo can't break the firmware

04 · Update saber

From the PC to the saber in two steps

Update saber... sends the SD card first, then compiles and flashes the firmware over USB, telling you what to plug in at each step. Status chips show whether the firmware and the card are current, behind or never sent.

  • Compiler and ProffieOS downloaded and managed for you
  • Board checked and current firmware backed up before every flash

The safety net

You can always get back to how the saber came

Your original saber files are kept safe on day one. Before SaberBench changes anything, it can keep an untouched copy of the SD card and read the firmware that's on the board.

  • Reset Staging... puts everything back to the original card in one action
  • Restore the original card files or the original firmware any time
  • Every apply, send and upload saves what it replaces, named by date and time
  • Nothing touches the saber or its card until you press the button

And everything around it

Parameters without code

Board, prop file, prop options, blade setups and buttons in plain forms. Raw text is still there for experts.

Know your buttons

Controls lists every button press and gesture from your prop file's own documentation, for your number of buttons.

Getting started checklist

Seven steps, each with its own button, from copying the card to the first send.

Packs

Export configs, fonts and tracks to a zip to share or move PCs. See what's inside before you import.

Font checker

Finds problems and duplicates in your sound fonts before they reach the saber.

Help built in

How it works in 8 steps, plus tips like what to do when the saber isn't detected.

Your saber, set up your way

The best saber board there is, without the programming. SaberBench for Proffieboard is on the Microsoft Store: US$10, one-time, no subscription.
